People always seem to believe that the world has always been as it is when they are living in it, but this is untrue. Traditions are carried down through generations, but they might not be span much more than a century. When it comes to church weddings, there are many misconceptions that might shock those who are planning a traditional celebration. Things have changed over the last few centuries, and they are still changing today.

Most people believe brides have always worn white on their wedding day, but this is actually a more modern tradition. Celebrations in the past have been a time when people wore their best clothing, and they would choose their most colourful garments on that special day. This means the bride, and possibly her entire wedding party, would wear anything but white. Colourful clothing signalled people’s wealth as well as their willingness to join wholeheartedly into the celebration of the day.
